A local bakery owned by friends exemplifies a general partnership, where partners share work and profits, highlighting shared responsibilities. A Limited Liability Company (LLC) protects owners' assets like a corporation but offers flexible taxation options, allowing it to be taxed as a sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation.". A local restaurant chain might choose an LLC for these benefits, necessitating paperwork and an operating agreement.

Corporations, such as Apple Inc., are separate entities owned by shareholders, offering limited liability but facing more regulations and taxes.
