1-نظام إعداد

</ol>2-معايرة وتشغيل أجهزة الاستشعار
<ol><li>
معايرة قياس الموجه
	<ol>
<li>إجراء معايرة المقياس موجه لكل موقع قياس وكل السرعة القصوى للرياح من المتوقع في الفترة التجريبية.<ol>
<li>تعيين الموضع العمودي للاستشعار حيث يكون متوسط مستوى المياه تقريبا في منتصف طول الأسلاك الاستشعار.</li>
			<li>تعيين سرعة منفاخ إلى القيمة المطلوبة، والسماح للرياح إلى ضربة مطردا لفترة طويلة بما فيه الكفاية (2-3 دقيقة).</li>
			<li>يدوياً باستخدام الذبذبات، ضبط حساسية، والكسب، والإزاحة لقياس الموجات باستخدام وحدة مكيف للتأكد من وجود الجهد القيم المقابلة لأعلى قمة والحوض الأدنى المتوقع في مجال الموجه داخل نطاق A/D محول (+/-10 V).</li>
			<li>إيقاف المنفاخ لعدة دقائق، حتى يصبح سطح الماء تماما دون عائق.</li>

معايرة وضبط LSG
	<ol>
<li>التحقق من أداء LSG بعد كل التشرد الجمعية أجهزة الاستشعار.<ol>
<li>استخدام بريزم آسفين ضوئية وضعها على ورقة زجاج أفقية، ينحرف شعاع الليزر فيما يتعلق بمحور بصري محاكاة منحدر معروفة مياه سطحية.</li>
			<li>النواتج العينة مديرية الأمن العام لشعاع الليزر انحرفت بقعة في الشاشة انتشارية باستخدام الذبذبات أو برنامج اقتناء بيانات مبنية خصيصا.</li>
			<li>حساب زاوية انحراف الشعاع والمنحدر من تنسيق بقعة شعاع الليزر تنسيق المقاسة؛ مقارنة النتيجة مع زاوية آسفين المعروفة.</li>

تحقق الخطي لإجراء المعايرة وتنمية القطاع الخاص
		<ol>
<li>وضع شبكة متباعدة بالتساوي وقد تم طباعتها على ورقة شفافة على الشاشة انتشارية وتوجيهه حيث أن لها محاور، x و y، تتماشى مع الأسفل وعبر اتجاهات الرياح، على التوالي (الشكل 4). ملاحظة: الشبكة يسهل توجيه شعاع الليزر إلى المواقع المطلوبة على الشاشة انتشارية مريح ودقة أما باستخدام مجموعة من المناشير أو تتحرك الليزر أسفل الشاشة انتشارية في الاتجاهين على طول الرياح و crosswind.</li>
			<li>استخدام مجموعة المناشير، يصرف شعاع الليزر الرأسي للحصول على عدة مواقف شعاعي شعاع الليزر بقعة على الشاشة انتشارية مع المحافظة على زاوية السمتية مستمر. ملاحظة: يتم استخدام القرار من 1 سم وقطرها 7 سم القصوى لكل من الزوايا السمتية 9.</li>

3-الإجراء التجريبية والحصول على البيانات
ملاحظة: انظر التكميلية الرقم 1 لواجهة المستخدم المستخدمة في الخطوات التالية.
<ol><li>ضبط تردد منفاخ باستخدام واجهة مستخدم برنامج المواصفات. ملاحظة: زيادة تدريجية نحو سرعة الرياح على سطح الماء دون عائق في البداية طبق، متبوعاً بمعدل تدفق الهواء مطرد لمدة محددة (120 s)، وإيقاف التسرع ما يقرب من المنفاخ.</li>
	<li>تحديد عدد معدلات تدفق الرياح ثابتة مختلفة وإعدادات منفاخ اللازمة.</li>

مرفق تجريبي يتكون من نفق الرياح الحلقة المغلقة التي شنت على دبابة موجه (طريقة عرض تخطيطي هو مبين في الشكل 1). مقطع الاختبار 5 أمتار طويلة 0.4 متر و 0.5 م عميقة. سيديوالس والكلمة مصنوعة من ألواح الزجاج السميك 6 مم وهي محاطة ضمن إطار مصنوع من الألومنيوم. ويوفر رفرف طويل 40 سم توسع سلس للمقطع العرضي تدفق الهواء من الفوهة على سطح الماء. طاقة الأمواج استيعاب الشاطئ مصنوعة من مواد التعبئة مسامية يقع في نهاية بكثير من الدبابات. منفاخ تسيطر عليها الكمبيوتر يتيح بلوغ سرعة تدفق الهواء يعني في المقطع اختبار ما يصل إلى 15 m/s.
قياس 100 مم طوله موجه خصيصا من نوع السعة مصنوع من التنتالوم المؤكسد. شنت سلك 0.3 مم على مرحلة رأسي مدفوعا بمحرك خطوة تسيطر عليها الكمبيوتر المصممة لمعايرة قياس الموجه. ويستخدم أنبوب بيتو يبلغ قطرها 3 مم لقياس الضغط الديناميكي في الجزء المركزي تدفق الهواء من مقطع الاختبار.
LSG، قياس المياه 2D لحظية السطح المنحدر، مثبت على إطار منفصل عن قسم الاختبار التي يمكن وضعها في أي مكان على طول الخزان (الشكل 2). LSG يتكون من أربعة أجزاء رئيسية: ليزر الصمام ثنائي، عدسة فريسنل، شاشة انتشارية، وجمعية كاشف الاستشعار عن موقف (PSD). صمام ثنائي ليزر يولد 650 نانومتر (أحمر)، 200 ميغاواط مركز شعاع ليزر مع قطرها حوالي 0.5 مم. قطر 26.4 سم فريسنل العدسة مع البعد البؤري 22.86 سم يوجه شعاع الليزر الواردة إلى الشاشة انتشارية 25 x 25 سم2 الموجود في الخلف البؤري للعدسة.

Exploring the Effects of Atmospheric Forcings on Evaporation: Experimental Integration of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer and Shallow Subsurface

Evaporation is directly influenced by the interactions between the atmosphere, land surface and soil subsurface. This work aims to experimentally study evaporation under various surface boundary conditions to improve our current understanding and characterization of this multiphase phenomenon as well as to validate numerical heat and mass transfer theories that couple Navier-Stokes flow in the atmosphere and Darcian flow in the porous media. Experimental data were collected using a unique soil tank apparatus interfaced with a small climate controlled wind tunnel. The experimental apparatus was instrumented with a suite of state of the art sensor technologies for the continuous and autonomous collection of soil moisture, soil thermal properties, soil and air temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed. This experimental apparatus can be used to generate data under well controlled boundary conditions, allowing for better control and gathering of accurate data at scales of interest not feasible in the field. Induced airflow at several distinct wind speeds over the soil surface resulted in unique behavior of heat and mass transfer during the different evaporative stages.

A protocol for the design and construction of a soil tank interfaced to a small climate controlled wind tunnel to study the effects of atmospheric forcings on evaporation is presented. Both the soil tank and wind tunnel are instrumented with sensor technologies for the continuous in situ measurement of environmental conditions.

Visually Based Characterization of the Incipient Particle Motion in Regular Substrates: From Laminar to Turbulent Conditions

Two different experimental methods for determining the threshold of particle motion as a function of geometrical properties of the bed from laminar to turbulent flow conditions are presented. For that purpose, the incipient motion of a single bead is studied on regular substrates that consist of a monolayer of fixed spheres of uniform size that are regularly arranged in triangular and quadratic symmetries. The threshold is characterized by the critical Shields number. The criterion for the onset of motion is defined as the displacement from the original equilibrium position to the neighboring one. The displacement and the mode of motion are identified with an imaging system. The laminar flow is induced using a rotational rheometer with a parallel disk configuration. The shear Reynolds number remains below 1. The turbulent flow is induced in a low-speed wind tunnel with open jet test section. The air velocity is regulated with a frequency converter on the blower fan. The velocity profile is measured with a hot wire probe connected to a hot film anemometer. The shear Reynolds number ranges between 40 and 150. The logarithmic velocity law and the modified wall law presented by Rotta are used to infer the shear velocity from the experimental data. The latter is of special interest when the mobile bead is partially exposed to the turbulent flow in the so-called hydraulically transitional flow regime. The shear stress is estimated at onset of motion. Some illustrative results showing the strong impact of the angle of repose, and the exposure of the bead to shear flow are represented in both regimes.

Simultaneous Measurement of Turbulence and Particle Kinematics Using Flow Imaging Techniques

Numerous problems in scientific and engineering fields involve understanding the kinematics of particles in turbulent flows, such as contaminants, marine micro-organisms, and/or sediments in the ocean, or fluidized bed reactors and combustion processes in engineered systems. In order to study the effect of turbulence on the kinematics of particles in such flows, simultaneous measurements of both the flow and particle kinematics are required. Non-intrusive, optical flow measurement techniques for measuring turbulence, or for tracking particles, exist but measuring both simultaneously can be challenging due to interference between the techniques. The method presented herein provides a low cost and relatively simple method to make simultaneous measurements of the flow and particle kinematics. A cross section of the flow is measured using a particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique, which provides two components of velocity in the measurement plane. This technique utilizes a pulsed-laser for illumination of the seeded flow field that is imaged by a digital camera. The particle kinematics are simultaneously imaged using a light emitting diode (LED) line light that illuminates a planar cross section of the flow that overlaps with the PIV field-of-view (FOV). The line light is of low enough power that it does not affect the PIV measurements, but powerful enough to illuminate the larger particles of interest imaged using the high-speed camera. High-speed images that contain the laser pulses from the PIV technique are easily filtered by examining the summed intensity level of each high-speed image. By making the frame rate of the high-speed camera incommensurate with that of the PIV camera frame rate, the number of contaminated frames in the high-speed time series can be minimized. The technique is suitable for mean flows that are predominantly two-dimensional, contain particles that are at least 5 times the mean diameter of the PIV seeding tracers, and are low in concentration.

The technique described herein offers a low cost and relatively simple method to simultaneously measure particle kinematics and turbulence in flows with low particle concentrations. The turbulence is measured using particle image velocimetry (PIV), and particle kinematics are calculated from images obtained with a high-speed camera in an overlapping field-of-view.

However, the experimental determination of the power input in small-scale vessels is still challenging due to relatively high friction losses inside typically used bushings, bearings and/or shaft seals and the accuracy of commercially available torque meters. Thus, only limited data for small-scale bioreactors, in particular single-use systems, is available in the literature, making comparisons among different single-use systems and their conventional counterparts difficult.
This manuscript provides a protocol on how to measure power inputs in benchtop scale bioreactors over a wide range of turbulence conditions, which can be described by the dimensionless Reynolds number (Re). The aforementioned friction losses are effectively reduced by the use of an air bearing. The procedure on how to set up, conduct and evaluate a torque-based power input measurement, with special focus on cell culture typical agitation conditions with low to moderate turbulence (100 &#60; Re &#60; 2&#183;104), is described in detail. The power input of several multi-use and single-use bioreactors is provided by the dimensionless power number (also called Newton number, P0), which is determined to be in the range of P0 &#8776; 0.3 and P0 &#8776; 4.5 for the maximum Reynolds numbers in the different bioreactors.

The power input in stirred bioreactors can be measured through the torque that acts on the impeller shaft during rotation. This manuscript describes how an air bearing can be used to effectively reduce friction losses observed in mechanical seals and improve the accuracy of power input measurements in small-scale vessels.

A Stable Phantom Material for Optical and Acoustic Imaging

Establishing tissue-mimicking biophotonic phantom materials that provide long-term stability are imperative to enable the comparison of biomedical imaging devices across vendors and institutions, support the development of internationally recognized standards, and assist the clinical translation of novel technologies. Here, a manufacturing process is presented that results in a stable, low-cost, tissue-mimicking copolymer-in-oil material for use in photoacoustic, optical, and ultrasound standardization efforts.
The base material consists of mineral oil and a copolymer with defined Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) numbers. The protocol presented here yields a representative material with a speed of sound c(f) = 1,481 &#177; 0.4 m&#183;s-1 at 5 MHz (corresponds to the speed of sound of water at 20 &#176;C), acoustic attenuation &#945;(f) = 6.1 &#177; 0.06 dB&#183;cm-1 at 5 MHz, optical absorption &#181;a(&#955;) = 0.05 &#177; 0.005 mm-1 at 800 nm, and optical scattering &#181;s&#39;(&#955;) = 1 &#177; 0.1 mm-1 at 800 nm. The material allows independent tuning of the acoustic and optical properties by respectively varying the polymer concentration or light scattering (titanium dioxide) and absorbing agents (oil-soluble dye). The fabrication of different phantom designs is displayed and the homogeneity of the resulting test objects is confirmed using photoacoustic imaging.
Due to its facile, repeatable fabrication process and durability, as well as its biologically relevant properties, the material recipe has high promise in multimodal acoustic-optical standardization initiatives.

Stability of Floating Vessels

 The objective of this experiment is to demonstrate the phenomenon of stability of floating vessels - the ability to self-right when rolled over to the side by some external force. Careful design of hull shapes and internal mass distribution enables seagoing vessels to be stable with low drafts (submerged depth of hull), improving vessel maneuverability and reducing drag. 
In this experiment, a model boat will first be modified to enable adjustment of its center of mass (representing different cargo loadings) and automated tracking of its roll angle. The boat will be placed in a container of water, and tipped to different angles with varying heights of its center of mass. Once released, the capsizing (tipping over) or oscillating motion of the boat will be tracked with a digital camera and video analysis software. Results for the maximum stable roll angle and frequency of oscillation will be compared with theoretical values. Stability calculations will be performed using geometric and structural properties of the boat determined in a computer aided design environment.

Turbulence Sphere Method: Evaluating Wind Tunnel Flow Quality

Wind tunnel tests are useful in the design of vehicles and structures that are subjected to airflow during their use. Wind tunnel data are generated by applying a controlled air flow to a model of the object being studied. The test model usually has a similar geometry but is a smaller scale compared to the full-sized object. To ensure accurate and useful data is collected during low speed wind tunnel tests, there must be a dynamic similarity of the Reynolds number between the tunnel flow field over the testing model and the actual flow field over the full-sized object.
In this demonstration, wind tunnel flow over a smooth sphere with well-defined flow characteristics will be analyzed. Because the sphere has well-defined flow characteristics, the turbulence factor for the wind tunnel, which correlates the effective Reynolds number to the test Reynolds number, can be determined, as well as the free-stream turbulence intensity of the wind tunnel.

Measuring Turbulent Flows

Turbulent flows exhibit very high frequency fluctuations that require instruments with high time-resolution for their appropriate characterization. Hot-wire anemometers have a short enough time-response to fulfill this requirement. The purpose of this experiment is to demonstrate the use of hot-wire anemometry to characterize a turbulent jet.
In this experiment, a previously calibrated hot-wire probe will be used to obtain velocity measurements at different positions within the jet. Finally, we will demonstrate a basic statistical analysis of the data to characterize the turbulent field.
